Controlled environment agriculture technology specialist, Light Science Technologies (LST), have announced an exclusive distribution agreement with agricultural automation provider, AgriLogiq, to market their innovative products overseas.

The five-year distribution partnership with AgriLogiq will provide access to the South African market for Light Science Technologies, allowing them to distribute their innovative nurturGROW lights to South African vertical farming facilities.

“Our strategic partnership with ArgiLogiq is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the growing vertical farming industry in South Africa. Our innovative lighting technology will help create the ideal light recipe for growing bigger and better crops” says Craig Price, Operations Director of Light Science Technologies.

Due to scarce rainfall, poor soil conditions and harsh growing environments in South Africa, there has been a growing market for greenhouse structures and vertical farming.

With increasing demand for growing under glass, organisations like Agriloqiq are aiming to be at the forefront of supporting South African horticulture.

AgriLogiq is a leading provider of agricultural automation services, offering advanced poly-greenhouse automation software and hardware components that increase crop yield.

Their new distribution partnership will enable them to add the Light Science Technologies nurturGROW to their catalogue of horticultural control solutions that are designed to overcome growing challenges created by harsh South African environments.

“We are excited to join forces with Light Science Technologies because their products excel in quality, modularity, and design, precisely aligning with our team’s needs. We look forward to a bright future, working closely with the LST staff to develop unique and innovative solutions for South Africa” says Joel van der Schyff, Managing Director at AgriLogiq.

Light Science Technologies have helped enhance growing conditions for greenhouse grown crops since 2019 with their lighting and monitoring solutions. Their innovations in technology are used within commercial glasshouses, polytunnels and vertical farming.

Designed for use in vertical farming, the nurturGROW luminaire and sensors provide growers with the ideal light recipe for year-round sustainable growth, helping them control cost, improve efficiency and increase yield.

“This partnership marks an important step in the development of our global partnerships’ strategy. We look forward to targeting high-growth regions with our products as we aim to enable even countries with the harshest of environments to consistently grow fresh and flavourful fruit and veg” concludes Craig.
